The Board of Directors, Staff and Members of Jewish Family Service Calgary believe that it does not matter whom we provide service to but how we provide that service and therefore services and programs are offered in the spirit of Jewish tradition and values: social justice, compassion, and a commitment to repairing the world.
Individuals and families coming to JFSC receive holistic care, meaning that all of the clients' issues are addressed simultaneously to the best of the ability of the agency. JFSC functions as a broadly based social support and safety net for the clients it serves.
In January 2007, the Board of Directors, with input from agency staff members, completed a 3 to 5 year strategic plan. In the coming years the agency is working towards the following goals through the current programs and services offered by the agency:
- Individuals and families in financial crisis are receiving assistance;
- Fewer people are hungry because kosher food is readily accessible to those who need it;
- Jewish families in need enjoy Jewish traditions and holidays;
- Newcomer resettlement and integration takes place to allow people to become settled, adjusted and self sustaining, enabling them to participate in the community and assist other immigrants;
- Clients find suitable employment that sustains their families;
- Counselling strengthens individuals and families in their relationships, contributing to healthy communities;
- Clients impacted by abuse no longer feel stigmatized, reaching out for help and resources;
- Fewer children are falling through the gaps;
- More seniors are living with dignity;
- Volunteers complement professional staff in delivering effective programming.
