Donate to Miriam's Well

Mommy, What's the Box with the Star of David For?

Has your child stopped and looked at the empty box at Safeway and Co-op and asked you this question? Miriam's Well is a Kosher Food Drop Off program which Jewish Family Service Calgary initiated over a year and a half ago. Since the inception of this program we have seen strong support from our community and it is our dream that this support continues and grows stronger. Calgary is becoming a very expensive city to maintain a Jewish Life Style and we are finding more families in need of a little boost of food every so often.

It is dream that the concept of the kosher food drop off boxes in the stores would help us remember that as we shopped we could add one more item to our basket that could be donated to the box on our way out. We would love our children to learn how easy it is to help someone in need and that this would become a weekly routine. We are always in need of products such as the staples, oil, sugar, pasta, tomato sauce. In fact products such as laundry detergent, soap, shampoo are too expensive to buy for senior and families on a tight budget.
