JFSC proud to be part of Birdies for Kids 2018

JFSC's Strength Program part of Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink

Birdies for Kids (BFK) is a non-profit program run under the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation. This program was introduced to the 2015 tournament and is designed to help raise funds for local charities, engage the community in the tournament, and provide matching funds for each charity involved. The program itself acts as a partnership builder between donors and charities, as all money will flow through the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation towards Alberta charities.

All administrative costs and efforts for the program are covered by the Shaw Charity Classic tournament meaning that JFSC will have no costs associated with the program and 100% of all donated funds through the Foundation will go directly towards the JFSC Strength Program. On top of your donation, the most exciting part of BFK is the matching pool: Up to 50% will be matched for the first $20K donated, and the funds will go directly to the JFSC Strength Program.

Why Support JFSC Strength Program

JFSC's Shalom Bayit Program (Domestic Violence) was developed and designed in response to community need, to provide advocacy and support to individuals, children and families experiencing domestic family discord. From this program, additional education was needed specifically for children and as a result “Who Do You Tell” and “Turn Of The Violence” programs soon followed. “Who Do You Tell” teaches children the indicators of abuse and builds their capacity to trust and tell someone safe if they have concerns. “Turn Off The Violence” teaches children about healthy relationships, conflict resolution, anger management and decision making. These programs were delivered to 440 students and 112 youth camp counsellors in 2017.

JFSC Strength Program will enhance youth skills by expanding “Who Do You Tell” and “Turn Of The Violence Programs to 3 additional schools as well as the greater community. We are planning to offer the programs through a coordinated effort with our partnering agencies to provide the program to an additional 650 children and youth.

So please, donate today to Birdies for Kids and make sure you select JFSC Strength Program as the Participant Charity. Thank you!
