Planning for the Unexpected: What to Do When Someone Goes Missing
In 2024, 258 Calgarians aged 65+ were reported missing. For caregivers of older adults living with dementia, mental illness, brain injury, or other vulnerabilities, the possibility of a loved one going missing is a real and deeply stressful concern.
This practical workshop, facilitated by Samantha Porter (JFSC Caregiver Support Program social worker and Chair of the Calgary Missing Older Adult Resource Network), is based on a comprehensive guide created by CMOARN. Learn about the risks, how to prepare for a missing incident, and steps to take if someone goes missing. Being prepared can help ease anxiety and ensure a faster, more coordinated response.
For more information on the workshop, email Samantha at samanthap@jfsc.org or call 403-287-3510.
